Day 94~ Be a Prisoner of Hope ~ Positive Attitude

Image
Welcome to day 94 devotional reading and reflection as we continue with our discussion through Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 Ways to Simplify Your Life." We have been discussing how our negative thinking causes us to be trapped in this endless cycle of " Woes Me." We talked about old names before Christ like Hopeless and when we have Christ our new name is Hope! Day 94~ Be a Prisoner of Hope~ Our scripture reading comes from Zechariah 9:12, " Return to the stronghold [of security and prosperity], you prisoners of hope; even today do I declare that I will restore double your former prosperity to you." What does prisoners of hope mean according to this scripture? We could safely say that it is a person that refuses to give up hope no matter the circumstances! They wrap everything around their hope in God that no matter what they are facing, he is going to show up! Hope allows us to think more positively that we can carry a smile on our faces. With

Day 93~ Don't be Discouraged with yourself~ Attitude in Faith

Image
Welcome to day 93 devotional reading and reflection as we finalize our discussion through Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 Ways to simplify Your Life." Discouragement is something we all will face in this lifetime. Many of us allow discouragement to hold us down. We can lift ourselves out of discouragement with one small step. Day 93~ Don't Be Discouraged with Yourself~ Our scripture reading comes from 2 Corinthians 4:16, " Therefore we do not become discourage ( utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day." Discouragement after discouragement can easily put us in the wrong mindset that nothing will go right for us or that God doesn't love us. This kind of thinking is so far off from what really God wants and has for us if we just ease up on being discouraged with ourselves when we make mistakes. We hav

Day 92~ The Person Who Lives Inside of You~ We are More Than What We have Become

Image
welcome to day 92 as we continue our last few days of our devotional reading and reflection through our discussion of Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 Ways to simplify Your Life." Learning to understand the heart of God we first have to understand ourselves. In order to enjoy life we have like ourselves even more to continue to do what we are called to do. Day 92~ The Person Who Lives Inside You~ Our scripture reading comes from 1 Peter 1:22, " Since by your obedience to the Truth through the [Holy] Spirit you have purified your hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren, [see that you] love one another fervently from a pure heart." The biggest thing in the last few months that God has laid upon my hearthas that having a pure heart can help me achieve a more simpler life. Like many of you, I hold onto a lot of things from the past that I didn't even know that was there. In my mind set, I have started to be who people were saying I was rather it wa

Day 91~ Be like Little Children ~ Courage to Trust Again and Again

Image
Welcome to day 91 with our discussion and devotional reading as we are finishing up our discussion of Joyce Meyer's book,  "100 Was to Simplify Your Life." The ability to learn how to trust God is so important. He wants us to be like little children and have those eyes that see things innocently. They believe and they trust openly. Day 91~ Be Like Little Children  Our scripture reading comes from Psalm 4:8, " In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust." I know that it is often hard to trust God through the most difficult days, but it can simplify our lives in better ways. We grow up saying to trust God with everything but as we mature through this physical world, our physical eyes only see what's around us. We find it Hard to trust anybody close to us and we have doubt. We love God but many of us have a hard time trusting Him with the plans for our lives that we question it all the time. A

Day 90~ Its Never Too Late~New Name~New Day

Image
Welcome to day 90 in our devotional reading and reflection as we are gearing to finishing our discussion through Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 Ways to simplify Your Life." We are freshly in the new year of 2017. Many people make resolutions but don't always follow through and then they get upset when they fail. What is so awesome about our God is that He is the God of New Beginning. Day 90~ Its Never Too Late~ Our scripture reading comes from Lamentations 3:22-23, " It is because of the Lord's mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness." It is so hard sometimes to face some things in this life. Before I was saved I had the hard time accepting who I was. Then when I gave my life over to Christ at 13, those old patterns of thinking were still there until later on in my adulthood. I had been involved in church all my l

Day 89 ~ Don't Be so Hard on Yourself~ God's Thoughts are Higher When Seeing the Bigger Picture~

Image
Welcome to day 89 as we approach final days of our discussion through Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 Ways to Simplify Your Life." We have too much stinkin' thinkin' going on in our minds that our vision is cloudy and we aren't seeing the whole picture of what God sees. We will discuss this more as we continue. Day 89 ~ Don't Be so Hard on Yourself~ Our scripture reading comes from Matthew 11:29, " Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls." I have to be the first to admit that I am my own worst critic. I tend to be more hard on myself on something that people don't even care as much as I do. One thing could go wrong and it will play over again in my mind how I could have done it better. Yes I agree that there is always room for improvement, but sometimes we continue year after year to f

Day 88 ~ Don't Be Offended~ Forgiveness Keeps Away the Root of Bitterness

Image
Welcome to day 88 in our devotional reading and reflection as we continue with our discussion through Joyce Meyer's Book, " 100 Ways to Simplify Your Life." It is the second day into 2017! I waited a few days in between these devotionals to allow God to speak to me in what direction I should go with this blog page. Lots of changes are happening and I needed to make sure that this was still what God wanted me to continue. The last few devotionals are carrying us into 2017 and bringing all this together. God works in mysterious ways! Day 88 ~ Don't Be Offended~ Our scripture reading comes from James 1:19, " Understand [this] my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry." Many of us are constantly stuck in the cycle of being offended. What if this New Year, we stop allowing Satan's fun of  holding offensive attitudes or conversations that we will encounter that allo
