Day 18~ Establish Boundaries~ saying "No" is a boundary

Image
Good early morning! God woke me up a little bit early to share with you what's on his heart. We are continuing our discussion and reflection through reading Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 ways to simplify your life." We are looking at day 18! Day 18~ Establish Boundaries~ Our scripture reading comes from Acts 17:26, " And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes)." Saying "No" is placing a boundary Throughout the bible we can see how God sets boundaries through kingdoms, relationships, businesses, marriages, and so many other areas. We can say boundaries are like fences; they are there to keep people out of things regarding your life that is undesirable. A lot of people do not obey this in peoples' lives when it comes to shari

Day 17~ Let the Main Thing be the Main thing~ Eye of the Storm

Image
Welcome for another beautiful day in the Lord! I am so overwhelmed in sharing this devotional and reflection! If you are just first time reading through, we are discussing Joyce Meyer's book, "100 Ways to simplify your life." Day 17~ Let the Main Thing be the Main Thing Our scripture reading is from, 1 John 5:21," Little children, keep yourselves from idols(false gods)-[from anything and everything that would occupy the place in your heart due to God, from any sort of substitute for Him that would take first place in your life]. Amen (so let it be)." The Eye of the Storm There is something about the rain when it falls! As a child, I liked to play in the rain even much so as an adult(Don't judge). It seems after it rains, everything smells renewed and flourished. I was in NY when 911 happened. I was working in a small manufacturing plant as the janitor. I was on my coffee break and I felt my heart jerk as the radio airwaves moved to a news break o

Day 16~ Stay out of Debt!

Image
Good Monday Morning! I know many are getting kids off to school here throughout the next few days! The expense of school itself is burden for many people. Today's devotional reading and reflection is talking about debt. We are continuing our discussion through Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 ways to simplify your life." Day 16~ Stay out of Debt Our scripture reading is found in Proverbs 22:7, " The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." This is a difficult one to talk about! I grew up to be able to pay for everything without borrowing money. That is one reason why I didn't want to go to college itself because of the money! 50,000.00 could be a house! I had a credit card once with a balance of 250.00 and I couldn't handle it. So I paid that off and never got another one again! My first 2 degrees were pay as you go! This really also connects with a previous devotion in day 10, Refuse to start what you cannot finish! The

Happy Weekend ~ Devotional

Image
Happy Weekend! We are going to recap what we have discussed. (Ps. 119:105) Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Day 1. Do one Thing at a Time~ FOCUS- Is it necessary? Does God want me to do this at this time? Day 2. Be Satisfied with What you Have~ Learn to be content in the situation you are in. Learning dependence on God while being content [satisfied] with the things you have. Day 3. Keep God First~ when you Let Go or give away what's holding you back, you will be FREE! Day 4. Live to Glorify God~ 1 Corinthians 10:31, " So then, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you may do, do all for the honor and glory of God." Day 5. Don't Worry About Tomorrow~ God will guide your path Day 6. Let Go of what Lies Behind~ God wants to let us know we have FREEDOM if we just LET GO! Day 7. Learn How to Say No~ Learn to say "No" without feeling guilty! Stand behind your "yes"! Day 8. Be Yourself~ Bei

Day 15~ " Avoid Excess Baggage"~ Time to Unpack your Bags!

Image
Good afternoon! I have been excited to share this devotional with you today. We are gearing into day 15 with our devotional reading and reflection based on Joyce Meyer's "100 ways to simplify your life." Day 15~ Avoid Excess Baggage " Your body is the baggage you must carry through life. The more excess baggage, the shorter the trip." ~ Arnold H. Glasgow Let's read 1 Peter 5:8, " Be well balanced [ temperate, sober of mind], be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [ in fierce hunger]seeking someone to seize upon and devour. Carrying a Heavy Load In 2009, I was feeling like I was going backwards in my spiritual life. You know that feeling of spinning your tires and going no where's. During my devotional time, I read through a devotional provided by Proverbs31 Ministry that stated that there are times God places us back into "tents."  He had taught me something l

Day 14~ Clear out the clutter~ Overgrown and Overwhelmed~

Image
Good morning! God is good! We sometimes get so busy with everyday life that we forget what is important! We are in day 14 of our devotional and reflection reading of Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 Ways to simplify your life." Day 14~ Clear out the Clutter~ "Eliminate physical clutter. More importantly, eliminate spiritual clutter." D.H. Mondfleur Our scripture reading is found in 1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV), "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." Overgrown and Overwhelmed How many of you feel overwhelmed when things are out of order or unorganized? I have slight OCD moments. The issue is when I feel that things are overwhelming, then I start to panic into an OCD mode because I can control a physical area either in the house or outside. This strikes when I'm overwhelmed with life's pressures and stress that I sometimes cannot control. God is in control no matter what. In those moments,

Day 13~ Stop Procrastinating~ Don't wait until tomorrow to do what God has for you to do TODAY

Image
Good afternoon on this beautiful day that God as provided again for us! There has been a lot we have covered and I will recap in a few days to allow this to sink in. We are heading into day 13 of our continuing to read through Joyce Meyer's book 100 ways to simplify your life.  Day 13~ Stop Procrastinating~ Our scripture reading comes from Hebrews 4:7, " Again He sets a definite day, [a new] Today, [and gives another opportunity of securing that rest] saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted, Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts." Stop Procrastinating~ I have the tendency like many to have these great ideas and start these great ideas but sometimes I don't finish them. I fall into the trap of things I have said I would do but haven't done nor found the way to complete it. I have in the past said yes to things that I know that God did not lead me to do. We sometimes we misunderstand t

Day 12~ Get Your Mind Off Yourself~ " A New Attitude of Faith"

Image
It is exciting to see what God has in store for us today! We are reading our way through Joyce Meyer's book 100 Ways to simplify your life by looking into Day 12 of our study! Day 12~ Get Your Mind Off Yourself According to Mark 8:34," And Jesus called [to him] the throng with His disciples and said to them, If anyone intends to come after me, let him deny himself [forget, ignore, disown, and lose sight of himself and his own interests] and take up his cross." Mission if You Should Choose~ Forget Yourself My pastor has been preaching a series called, "Multiply", which is understanding our primary goal as Christians is to make disciples. In order to understand making disciples, we have to understand the core of our Christian walk. Our core goal is to follow Christ. When we gave our hearts to receive Christ into our hearts, we were saying ,"the world behind me, the cross before me, no turning back , no turning back." Here comes the sticky part

Day 11~Don't Make Mountains out of Molehills~ "Choosing your battles"

Image
Day 11 devotional reading and reflection! I pray that each one who reads this finds something inspiring to ponder on to help carry you through. I have searched my heart when it comes to each new day to fully come to the throne of grace to seek words that God has for you! You are loved!! If this is your first day reading along, I am currently studying through Joyce Meyer's book 100 ways to simplify your life. 11) Don't Make Mountains out of Molehills~ "Choosing your battles" "Better never trouble trouble until trouble troubles you. For you're sure to make your trouble double double trouble when you do."   ~ David Keppel Our scripture reading is found in John 14:27 that reads, " Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be

Day 10~ Refuse to Start What You Cannot Finish~ " Consider the cost"

Image
Hello everyone! I hope you are having a blessed Sunday! I wanted to share day 10 devotion and reflection based on Joyce Meyer's 100 ways to Simplify your life! We have discussed different topics each day and I hope you picked up something new with each one! Know that I am just like you learning every day the goodness of God in my life each day! Day 10~ Refuse to Start What You Cannot Finish~ Our scripture reading is from Luke 14:28, which states this," For which of you, wishing to build a farm building, does not first sit down and calculate the cost [to see] whether he has sufficient means to finish it?" It is okay to dream and to have dreams.     Many people have taken their dreams and capitalized it while others didn't leave the first draft. God's word provides instructions in how to conduct business, finances, relationships and how to make decisions. The first part of the verse states, "....first sit down and calculate the cost....." (Luke 14:28)

Day 9~ Choose Quality over Quantity~ Continue devotional and reflection with Joyce Meyer's 100 Ways to Simplify your life

Image
Welcome to our day 9 devotional reading and reflection! We are going to continue with our discussion on Joyce Meyer's 100 Ways to Simplify your life. I hope this has encouraged many of you throughout your day as well as it has mine. Let's start! 9) Choose Quality over Quantity~ Our scripture reading is from Philippians 1:10, " Learn to sense what is vital and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value [recognizing what is the highest and the best]. Quote from Martin Luther King Jr., " The quality , not the longevity, of one's life is what is important." I remember a sermon from many years ago from a pastor who asked a question, " What did you do with dash in between the time you were born and until the day you passed on?" WOW! It was an eye opener for me as well! Did I fully understand the question that was being asked at the time? No I did not! Until  a few years ago I lost my best friend, her husband, and her daughter in a blink of

Day 8~ Be Yourself~ continuing with Joyce Meyer's 100 Ways to Simplify your life devotional and reflection

Image
Welcome to day 8 in our continuing devotion and reflection reading from Joyce Meyer's 100 Ways to Simplify your Life.  8) Be yourself~ Scripture reading is for us to focus on comes from the book of Galatians 6: 4 which reads, " But let every person carefully scrutinize and examine and test his own conduct and his own work. He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable[ in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison to his neighbor." We all face this fear of being judged in a crowd of people. Many of you know me to be sometimes loud or even obnoxious at times. I was never the one who hung out with the popular crowd in school. I tend to be by myself at times but I'm always  nice to those around me. I have many friends but only so many are close to me at a different level. Just like many of you do too. Many of you do not know that I have a reading disability that caused me a lot of suffering as a child and into my

Faith Can Move Mountains Beginnings

Image
The beginning of this started back when I was little girl when I was sitting one day with my grandma outside at her picnic table. My grandma was battling this disease known as cancer. My grandma's strong faith in God was an inspiration to me. She was never one to display her being sick! She kept going to church and kept her family motivated through it all. On this particular day, she was outside reading her bible when we showed up at her trailer. Now usually she had her reading done before we got there. She asked my mom to run to the store for her and I stayed behind with my grandma. I asked my grandma if she believed that Jesus was going to heal her. She said, "yes," rather here on earth or in heaven. I asked her if she believed in God and she said "Yes!" Then I remember asking if she was going to see Jesus, and she said,"yes." She held my hand and told me to remember these words, " Faith Can Move Mountains!" She read to me this scripture

Day 7~ Learn How to Say No~ Joyce Meyer's 100 Ways to Simplify your Life devotion and reflection

Good Afternoon! I am so happy to share with you today of what God has in store for you. We will continue with our devotional reading and reflection on Joyce Meyer's 100 Ways to Simplify Your life. We are going into day 7! Let's recap of what we have discussed. 1) Do One thing at a Time 2) Be Satisfied with What You Have 3) Keep God First 4) Live to Glorify God 5) Don't Worry about Tomorrow 6) Let Go of What Lies Behind and  now we are at day 7!!!  7) Learn how to say NO~ Our scripture reading is from James 5:12, " But let your yes be [a simple] yes, and your no be [a simple] no, so that you may not sin and fall under condemnation." WOW! another eye opener with that being said! A "no" means "no" and a "yes" means "yes", but we fall into the cycle of pleasing everyone that we are in contact with. We either have family obligations, work obligations, church obligations, and so forth. Sometimes we take on more than we c

Day 6 ~ Joyce Meyer's 100 Ways to Simplify Your life~ Letting Go and Letting God!

Image
Welcome to Day 6 devotional reading and reflection! we are continuing to read through and discuss Joyce Meyer's 100 Ways to simplify your life. 6) Let Go of What Lies Behind~ Scripture reading is from Is. 43:18" Do not [earnestly] remember the former things: neither consider the things of old. " You build on a failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." Johnny Cash (Meyer, 2007) WOW!! This is a tough one for many of us including myself. Of course, I had to learn the hard way it seems but now I am going to share it with you. How many times have you tried to go back and fix things ( relationships and many others)? Did you get tired and worn out? How about keep remembering a hurtful time? God wants to let us know we have FREEDOM if we just LET GO! Is it easy? Not at all!

Day 5~ 100 Ways to Simplify your Life~Life Lesson about Don't Worry about Tomorrow

Image
Good morning! I hope that you have enjoyed this beautiful day that God has provided! With all things considered, we going to jump into our reflection/ devotion continuing from Joyce Meyer 100 Ways to Simplify your Life! 5) Don't Worry about Tomorrow~ the scripture reading comes from Matthew 6:34, " so do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble." A quote from Corrie Ten Boom~ " Any concern to small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden." When the Israelites where on their journey to the promise land, God provided manna for one day at a time. They were instructed to only gather enough for that day to provide for their family and not store it because it will have rotted by the next day! This was God's way of showing them how to trust God and to build their confidence in believing God. This also was showing how God keeps His prom

Day 4 ~ Reflection / devotion with Joyce Meyer 100 Ways to Simplify your life~ my reflection of my weight loss journey

It is a beautiful day to share with you in how God is faithful!!! We will continue with our discussions with Joyce Meyer 100 Ways to Simplify your life with our day 4 reflection and devotional! Please remember that this is what the Lord laid upon my heart to share with you! I pray that this will encourage others and yourself. Please follow my page and share with those you know! I intend to breakdown different devotional studies as we move forward! 4) Live to Glorify God~ our scripture reading is from 1 Corinthians 10:31, " So then, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you may do, do all for the honor and glory of God." This verse has been a milestone verse for me! The last few years I have been dealing with some health and weight issues. As a child I was overweight and I did not care how anyone viewed me. By the time I graduated high school in 1995, I was close to 400 lbs and miserable! I felt hopeless and needed to do something. The moment came when I could not bend ove

Day 3 of 100 Ways to Simplify Your life~ By Joyce Meyer (My personal insights of my journey)

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday! I just got back from church and the message was about purpose! Understanding God's purpose for your life that he has created you to do! I have been thinking about my purpose in life and I needed this reminder as well! We are continuing to move through our insight study off of Joyce Meyer's book 100 Ways to Simplify your life. For redcap we discussed Do one thing at a Time and Be satisfied with What you have! our next one is Keep God First!! Let's start! 3) Keep God First- scripture for this is from Genesis 12:2, " I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others]. Food for thought!! For many would state this to be an issue with materialistic or dealing with money! It can be that but there is more to consider , how about power, position, certain status[marriage, single, dating, divorcing, ect.], being first in class achievement

Day 2~ Be satisfied with what you have~By Joyce Meyer~ Devotion and reflection

To continue with previous post~ 100 ways to Simplify your Life by Joyce Meyer  last post talked about keeping focus. 2) Be satisfied with What You Have~ Scripture reading is from Hebrews 13:5 " Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present[circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you. This is something that is difficult for many to comprehend! Is having "more" really satisfying? The more you have in reality is more that you have to take care of. Choices lead to consequences! I remember when I wanted to move out on my own! I saved my money I was making from subbing and cleaning. My grandfather passed away and I was able to take any house ware items that he had. I boxed them up and put aside. I looked for apartments and places. My friends wanted to get a place together! We had 5 of us thin

Day 1~ Do one thing at a time~ By Joyce Meyer~ Devotional reading and reflection by Me

I like to read different devotional books and like to share my insights of particular things that were revealed to me during a specific time. It has taken me awhile to decide how I was going to use this blog page and I want to inspire others through my faith in God! This book by Joyce Meyer~ 100 Ways to Simplify your Life is an eye opener! I am going to share bits and pieces with you. 1).Do one thing at a time~ scripture reading is from Hebrews 12:2 " Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. Focusing isn't something that is easily obtained due to our human nature. We are busy!!!!! No matter what we do in life, we are constantly busy! Are we focusing on the things that are beneficial or wasting our time? Good question! There is this new saying that is floating around social media that reads " Not my cir
