Day 3 of 100 Ways to Simplify Your life~ By Joyce Meyer (My personal insights of my journey)
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday! I just got back from church and the message was about purpose! Understanding God's purpose for your life that he has created you to do! I have been thinking about my purpose in life and I needed this reminder as well! We are continuing to move through our insight study off of Joyce Meyer's book 100 Ways to Simplify your life. For redcap we discussed Do one thing at a Time and Be satisfied with What you have! our next one is Keep God First!! Let's start!
3) Keep God First- scripture for this is from Genesis 12:2, " I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].
Food for thought!! For many would state this to be an issue with materialistic or dealing with money! It can be that but there is more to consider , how about power, position, certain status[marriage, single, dating, divorcing, ect.], being first in class achievements, team positions and so forth. Hitting anything that draws your attention AWAY FROM GOD! EVERYTHING!!We could consider ourselves rich snobs with our lives that we don't give it to God! We hoard everything! I'm a collector! I also keep things that may not seem much to other people as they do to me! I remember moving out of my parents house carrying everything that I owned! I had books from a child to anything! I moved into a small 2 bedroom trailer and I was good to go! I used the second bedroom to hold everything and closed the door! I couldn't find nothing! I found my brother's old guitar one day and fixed the strings and started to play it. I was a songwriter by heart and just was learning how to develop songs into melodies. I realized I needed a place to concentrate and organization so I cleared out the second bedroom for an office/ studio.I gave it all away! How did I feel? relieved!! I was carrying my childhood around! Learned to downsize! Made it easier to move to North Carolina! What is the lesson? When you let go or give away what's holding you back you will be FREE! Have you given what you are holding that you think is sacred that God wants to release you from. Past relationships, old memories, hurts, brokenness, over eating, alcohol and so much more! Release it Ps. 46:10 " Be still and Know I Am God." Be still is translated to "Let it Go!"

I am a collector too and I am surrounded by things I have collected from dolls to owls to seashells...I love looking at these things and reminiscing about where I got them (many are from travels to fun places)but I also recently have thought about all the money that was spent on these items and realize I could have actually been less stressed out financially at times if I had spent more of my collection money on things I/we truly needed. I think for me, buying things is having some control over what comes into my world when I often don't feel I have much control. When I am feeling circumstances have me trapped or that others in my life are in control because their need for me and my time and attention are endless and can wear me down, I often escape to town and buy something for myself. Or, when I finally get a chance to get away from all my responsibilities on a trip, then I am in celebration mode and buy something symbolic of that time to comfort me when I get back to "real life." I have found that being in a Christian small group of women at church has given me a stress outlet that makes me feel this need for spending away the stress less necessary. Sundays at my church also help.
