Day 71~ Wisdom is What Keeps You From Burn Out~Finding True Rest

Welcome to day 71 with our devotional reading and reflection. The last few days we have been discussing changes rather them being positive or negative. When it comes to changes we have to be realistic and be wise as we make our way down the path that God is leading us. Let's talk more!

Day 71~ Wisdom is What Keeps You From Burn Out~

Our scripture reading comes from Proverbs 3:13, " Happy ( blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [ drawing it forth from God's Word and life's experiences]."

After many studies on wisdom, I have to admit that I don't always acknowledge my limitations and I keep going until I'm done. I was doing things just to do things to keep people happy. I thought I was serving God but in reality I was caught in pleasing people. Burn out is something that we all have faced in our lifetime. It isn't something that happens overnight and it is done the next day. If you are constantly working and not allowing yourself shut down time, you will find yourself disconnected with everybody. This is why it is important that we must follow God through every decision we are making. Wisdom in scheduling and commitments, can eliminate frustration which eventually leads to burnout.
Symptoms of Burnout:
If find yourself extra cranky
If you are not fully committed to work hours. ( late or early leaving)
Disconnecting from people!
Not doing the things you once cared about doing!
Starting to feel physically sick!
Many people don't pay attention to these signs and eventually give up on things that God intended them to do!

Reflection~ Finding True Rest~

If you want to simplify your life, one is to learn how to pace yourself as you accomplish things in your life. When we are working for the Lord, in Matthew 11:28, " Then Jesus said, ' Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." God wants us to have rest so he will make changes in our schedules. Resisting changes just puts on more pressure if we just rest in his reassurance that he knows what is best. He also wants us to think through everything before proceeding. Lately, I have been in the mind set of saying, " Thy Will Be Done." Let go of control! Trust God today!
