Day 24~ Forgiveness Releases Your Blessings~ Learning to Let Go!
Welcome again on this beautiful day in the Lord. I know September is known as new beginnings! Kids start back to school and the season is changing over to fall! This is the time many people start to think through the whole year being thankful and looking for renewal. With our journey with God we have that everyday! It is one of God's Promises that we read in Lamentations 3: 22-23," Because of the LORD'S great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
Our scripture reading comes from Matthew 6:14, "For if you forgive people their trespasses [ their reckless and willfulness, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], your heavenly father will also forgive you."
Day 24~ Forgiveness Releases Your Blessings
Forgiving those that have hurt you is not something that is easy to do but holding on to it can destroy and complicate your life more. When you have been hurt by someone dearly, we tend to think of the revenge we can get on that particular person by either flaunting new things, careers, relationships and so many things to show them that they have nothing on us. Believe me I can write the perfect country song about heartbreak! I wrote this song titled, " Temporary Tattoo," and I could have it all over the airwaves. I was determined to prove this person wrong (Remind you about eye of the storm). I was so angry and hurt to the point of trying to collect something that was owed from the wrong person. I was so angry!!! God wanted me to trust him through this pain! I argued every scenario and reason as to things! But the one thing that remained was the feeling on the day of the tornado coming right at me!
Reflection~ Learning to Let Go!
God promises in his word that he will take care of those who have literally have wronged us. Looking at Isaiah 61:7, " Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours." Here it is, it is better to give that anger over to God and forgive them. It is not saying what they have done is okay! That anger is holding your blessings from God and destroying your life. Was it easy to forgive this person? NO!!!! I have been dealing with the aftermath of pain for almost 10 years. The last 2 years it was important to release it all to God in order to gain entrance to the promise he has for me. That's when this verse now makes sense, Psalm 46:10, " Be still and know that I am God." Be still means to let go and let God! It hurts yes but you will grow through the pain! Ask God to help you through it. He is the answer! Once you have changed the way you think about it, soon your feelings will change and you will see what God knew all along.
