Day ~ 34~ Don't Be Afraid of What Other's Think~ God is Our Defender~

Welcome to day 34 devotion and reflection while continuing our discussion through Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 ways to simplify your life." In last 34 days we have discussed different topics that we can easily see where God wants us to be free in our life. We take on too much stuff thinking that's what Christians are supposed to do!

Day 34 ~ Don't Be Afraid of What Other's Think~

Our scripture reading comes from Mark 4:19, " Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless."

I have to admit that I have issues with overthinking and over analyzing situations that it causes more complications in my life than it needs to be.There are times I was too afraid to speak because I thought I was dumb. I felt that people thought I was stupid. Therefore I was intimidated to speak about things until my district manager put me on the spot to talk during a sales meeting through a presentation. There were times I have spoken before groups of women and some were rude during the speech that I became personally insulted that I wasn't called to give that message or lesson. I am a songwriter and I love to sing. The first time I was able to sing one of my songs for a special for a former church was exciting. God said sing and so I did. There were people talking about that it didn't move people but had others come up to me that said I have a gift were people would want to hear my songs. I'm a big gal in many areas and I have been accused of being pregnant many times. Nope I'm just fluffy in more areas. I have been told that I was a distraction to men. That was interesting! I didn't see no men in line after me. Let's bring it to another perspective! How about when you are praising God? We are afraid to lift our hands, shout and sing out loud because of what other's may think. I know I have felt people's eyes glaring at me when praising God and then they would say I was doing it wrong. All this is Satan's schemes to keep you and I from doing what God has called us to do for His glory.

Reflection~ God is Our Defender~

It doesn't matter what people think of you. God loves you and I more than anything because he sent us his son to die on the cross for our sins. Why should we live our life in fear of someone else's thought? God looks at our hearts. He knows why we are doing something and it is His business not anybody else's business. Read Romans 8:15, " For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, and by him we cry, " Abba, Father." Once we understand our identity in Christ, it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks.
Write these down and post them somewhere's
~ I am a child of God ( John 1:12)
~ I have peace with God ( Rom. 5:1)
~I have been given a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline ( 2 Tim. 1:7)
~ I have been made complete in Christ ( Col. 2:10)
If God is for us, who can be against us?

There has been a lot covered in a few days and I will recap for those who are just joining our discussion. Throughout the bible, God tells us numerous times to watch our mouths. My pastor is starting a new series titles Speech Therapy. Welcome to day 80 as we are continuing with our devotional reading and reflection.God is amazing and so loving! We don't deserve anything and so often take it for granted. Day 80~ A bit of Grace for Today~ Our scripture reading comes from James 4:6, "But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Today as I was working,  I realized how undeserving I am of God's blessings in my life.
