Day 21~ Regularly Reevaluate Commitments~
Our scripture reading comes from Matthew 11:28, " Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you rest. [ I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]
Our lives are always changing and we don't realize that many of our commitments change as well. Sometimes we hold onto things that God has been done with or are no longer bearing fruit in our lives. The hardest thing for me was to give up doing my Avon business through flea markets, events, and I had a nursing home that I would set up a table once a month. I enjoyed doing those events but priorities in my life were changing, so I had to let go. Many of them didn't produce profits and times people didn't pay. It was still hard to let go but God wanted me to. I still work part-time with Avon as district assistant from home. God was simplifying my life and he was providing some income to see me through until the next. I have to realize that God doesn't always want me to do things that he has something else in mind. It is okay to know when to step back or know when to get involved with something without feeling guilty.
Reflection~ Make a Change from I can't to I can~
When life gets over bearing, we need to leave our burdens to the Lord. Jesus knows how important it is for us to rest. Jesus is our rest. Take the opportunity to reevaluate your commitments.
