Day 49 ~Let Go~Let God do his Job

Welcome to day 49 in our devotional and reflection as we continue our discussion with Joyce Meyer's book, " 100 ways to simplify your life." So many times we are so consumed in what people think or our assumption of what one thinks of us. This is a trap that Satan likes to use daily.

Day 49 ~ Let Go~

Our scripture reading comes from Ephesians 6:13, " Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."
This scripture within itself is very powerful. We do not realize the damage we are doing to ourselves when we put pressure on ourselves to prove to others that we aren't what they think we are. We get caught up in trying to either please people or we strive for perfection easily either through work, home, church, or school. We want out do and above. This is a cycle that keeps Satan in control of you like a hamster in a wheel. You will start to become unhappy, confused, and disappointed just to name a few. I have written prior to how I was labeled " mentally retarded" by a kindergarten teacher that killed my inner being. It was a constant battle throughout my school life because she also had written it in my school records. If I didn't have my next kindergarten teacher to reverse my mindset at that age, the outcome would have been worse for me. I still had to battle pretty much through my adulthood. My last 4 years in college was God showing me all along who I was. How he viewed me and how others saw me. I was spinning in Satan's hamster wheel. The highlight came recently through my devotional that I had a problem of idolatry because I was focused on how people defined `me. However the word " stand, " in Greek means " to abide or rest in God." I had to first let it go and stand which is being proactive against Satan with learning God's promises and truths.

Reflection~Let God Do His Job~

It is important that we understand that God cares for us. One of his many promises that he made clear to me was through this scripture from 1 Peter 5:7, " Casting the whole of your care [all you anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully." This is when you pray and let it be known that these issues are laid before God. There are times God will give your discernment of what others maybe saying about you but when he gives that to you, He wants you to give it to him and grow from it. Do not seek revenge or strive for perfection just to please them. Follow God's instructions. This gives you freedom more when you turn it over to God immediately. Do not think on it for another minuet. Another promise is through this very scripture, Psalm 46:10, " He says, ' Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'" " Be still" translated in Greek means " Let Go. " God is in control. Trust him today and be free. You will begin to renew your mind.
