Day 45 ~ Don't fret over evildoers~ Delight yourself in God
Welcome to day 45 in our devotional and reflection as we continue our discussion through Joyce Meyer's book , " 100 ways to simplify your life." We are halfway there to the top of this mountain journey! I am excited to share with your that view spiritually in a few days! Isn't God good?
Day 45 ~ Don't Fret over Evildoers~
Our scripture reading comes from Psalm 37:1, " Fret not yourself because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness (that which is not upright or in right standing with God.)"
We have to realize we live in evil times. With events that have played out across this world within the last 10 years has been made clear to me. Paul warned Timothy this in 2 Timothy 3 :1 - 5, " But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-having a form of godliness but denying its power, Have nothing to with such people." We easily get distracted on the path God has mapped out for us when we started allowing other people or situations to take over our thought process. Once we start focusing on the problems, we start loosing our faith and we start to drown in our problems. God tells us he has this and to keep our focus on him. There was a time where I hit depression really fast when my mom was first diagnosed with colon cancer. I was hurting and confused. I started reading Joyce Meyer's book Battlefield of the Mind while mom was in ICU and getting her home 3 weeks later. My pastor didn't even realize how much I was hurting and I crawled into that pit. I was there and wasn't going to face daylight ever again. God had other plans! I knew I had to get deeper. I threw myself into songwriting. I soon realized I God had something for me to do! That's when I was placed back into "tents" in my relationship with him. I started reading Dr. Charles Stanley's book, " God's Solutions for Your Life," which I found at the Dollar General Store. Then more started coming through his devotionals as I subscribed to receive his free mailings! Satan was fighting me! I was getting stronger! I knew this was much more than me! This was a testing time with God!
Reflection~Delight Yourself in God~
In Psalm 37: 10-11, " a little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity." God understands and knows what we are facing everyday. It is important that we rely on Him and not look at our problems. Jesus dealt with issues while he was here on this earth but he continued to do what he was called to do. He helped and focused on obeying what God had shown him what he needed to do. That is why it is important that during our toughest battles, we need to continue to complete God's will. Don't Stop. Don't Give Up! Don't look Back and definitely don't look down. Keep your eyes on God!
